Ingredients
Shrimp:
1 lb shrimp (16–20 count, peeled & deveined)
Kosher salt
Black pepper
1–2 tbsp olive oil
Sauce Base:
1/4 cup orange juice
1 teaspoon garlic paste
Flavor Build:
1 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)
1/4 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
1–2 drops liquid smoke (optional)
Finish:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup sliced scallions
Optional Serving:
White rice
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Season & Sear the Shrimp
Season shrimp with:
Salt
Pepper
Cook in olive oil over medium heat until just pink.
👉 Do NOT fully cook
Remove and set aside.
2. Build the Sauce in the Same Pan
Add:
Orange juice
Garlic
Scrape the bottom (this is flavor).
👉 This step lifts all that shrimp goodness into your sauce
3. Add Tomatoes
Add halved cherry tomatoes.
Cook 2–3 minutes until:
Skins begin to crack
👉 That’s your signal they’re ready
4. Build the BBQ Glaze
Add:
Barbecue sauce
Hoisin sauce
Liquid smoke (optional)
Stir and reduce slightly.
5. Bring Shrimp Back (Heat OFF)
Add shrimp back to pan.
👉 Important:
Finish cooking off heat
This keeps them:

Tender
Not rubbery
6. Finish Like a Pro
Stir in:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Scallions
Let rest 5 minutes.
👉 This creates a rich, glossy sauce
7. Serve
Serve over rice and spoon sauce on top.
