  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

  • 1–2 drops liquid smoke (optional)

Finish:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1/4 cup sliced scallions

Optional Serving:

  • White rice

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Season & Sear the Shrimp

Season shrimp with:

  • Salt

  • Pepper

Cook in olive oil over medium heat until just pink.

👉 Do NOT fully cook

Remove and set aside.

2. Build the Sauce in the Same Pan

Add:

  • Orange juice

  • Garlic

Scrape the bottom (this is flavor).

👉 This step lifts all that shrimp goodness into your sauce

3. Add Tomatoes

Add halved cherry tomatoes.

Cook 2–3 minutes until:

  • Skins begin to crack

👉 That’s your signal they’re ready

4. Build the BBQ Glaze

Add:

  • Barbecue sauce

  • Hoisin sauce

  • Liquid smoke (optional)

Stir and reduce slightly.

5. Bring Shrimp Back (Heat OFF)

Add shrimp back to pan.

👉 Important:
Finish cooking off heat

This keeps them:

  • Juicy

  • Tender

  • Not rubbery

6. Finish Like a Pro

Stir in:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • Scallions

Let rest 5 minutes.

👉 This creates a rich, glossy sauce
